Past Meeting Recap
The Council met three times since my last update (January 24th, February 6th, February 14th). A few details important to mention:
Our off-cycle February 6th Meeting: This February has been a special case, with the council hosting an additional, special meeting. This meeting was called on February 6th to join a settlement alongside other municipalities in the Midwest against Meijer Pharmacies for overprescribing opioids. This is the most recent settlement we have joined to address the Opioid crisis plaguing the nation.
Also important, road project updates: The Roads Committee recently shared a recap from their meeting at the beginning of February. Examples of updates in our community imclude:
Upcoming Street Rehabilitation
County Road Projects: 146th & Allisonville, Greenfield Avenue Bridge Rehab
INDOT Projects: 141st & SR-37, Roundabouts outside of Riverview Hospital, SR-32/Logan Roundabout, SR-32 Road Reconstruction, SR-37 & 186th, SR-37 & 191st, SR-38 & Boden
Important partnership projects like the Pleasant Street Corridor
Trails: Stony Creek Trail under SR-37, Little Chicago Trail over Morse, Nickel Plate Trail, Levee Trail

Food, Housing Options on Trail Coming to Midland Pointe
At our last meeting, the Council unanimously approved a preliminary planned development for Midland Pointe (located on the Southeast corner of Hazel Dell and SR-32). This important corner will have a mix of housing engaging with the trail and businesses along the SR-32 corridor. Wawa, a convenience store chain based on the East Coast, will locate its first Indiana location in this development.
More on Wawa:
Wawa is a staple on the East Coast with about 1,000 locations in Delaware, Florida, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Washington, D.C.
Stores offer gas and other services, including a large food selection. It’s known for custom-prepared hoagies, freshly brewed coffee, hot breakfast sandwiches, specialty beverages and a dinner menu featuring burgers, soups, sides and snacks.
Wawa said it’s received “thousands of requests” to expand operations further west. The company is already moving into Tennessee and adding locations in the Florida Panhandle, Alabama, North Carolina and Georgia.

Congrats, Chef Samir!
Just a few weeks ago, the James Beard Foundation recognized Chef Samir of 9th Street Bistro as a semifinalist for this year's James Beard Award. In the restaurant world, this is a HUGE deal — and so deserved!
Samir is one of two chefs in Indiana recognized as a semifinalist (along with 18 others in IN, IL, MI and OH).
Nominees for this region will be announced March 29 and winners will be announced in Chicago on June 5.
Read more on the recognition in the IndyStar here. Check out 9th Street's menu here. Most importantly, make a reservation by clicking here.

Jobs, Jobs, Jobs!
Over the last month, the Council approved economic development equipping three businesses (two new to Noblesville and one current business) to expand their footprint and bring new high-paying jobs to Noblesville.
Bastian Solutions: In this move, the Carmel-based Bastian Solutions will consolidate its locations in Carmel and Westfield to create an international headquarters in Noblesville with a $130 million corporate campus and manufacturing facilities. More on the move here.
Ryan Fire Equipment: One of Noblesville's own announced it was doubling down on its presence here with plans to expand to expand its physical footprint by 45,000 square feet and its team by ten new employees with average salaries of $75k.
Best Equipment: Best Equipment, one of the oldest environmental equipment companies in the country, is relocating its headquarters to the northwest corner of 141st Street and Herriman Blvd. (and bringing 40 new jobs with it!). Read more on Best Equipment and their move here.

Breaking the Mold on New Development
As Noblesville grows, private development will play a key role in building the vision the City sets for its future. Each month, I'll share some of the examples of new development I've seen around the country that I believe we should look to as examples down the road.
Just across the Ohio River in Louisville, there's a newly built development called Norton Commons. It's a community that has homes, apartments, condos, parks and businesses — all within walking distance of one another. There are many reasons why people are attracted to downtown Noblesville, but the pedestrian walkability and unique character are two highlights! New communities like this go far in replicating that quality of life.
