Good Afternoon, —
A few quick items:
Council Meetings: Since my last email, Council met twice (July 26th & August 9th).
Alley Activation: At those meetings, we approved enhancements vetted through the Downtown District Committee: decorative crosswalks and a gateway arch for the east alley. These are a part of the City's ongoing efforts to utilize grant dollars given to the City by the NEA to beautify downtown. We're vetting additional "alley activation" opportunities — stay tuned!
Budget Season: Council's main statutory responsibility is to oversee the pursestrings for the City. Over the next few weeks, we'll be diving into the proposed budget for next year. Next month, I'll give an overview of that process and what that means for you as a taxpayer.
Okay, let's jump in!
Project Spotlight: Bridge of Flowers
As you may have noticed, there is currently a temporary lane restriction on Logan Street over the White River in downtown. This is in place for the installation of the Bridge of Flowers.
Here's everything you need to know:
Lane Restrictions: The Logan Street lane restriction (between SR19 and 8th Street) started earlier this week and will be in place for about a month. There will always be one lane open in each direction during the lane restriction.
Funding: Activating the pedestrian portion of the Logan Street bridge has long been a part of the City's Capital Improvement Plan. Because of the financial partnership with the County and Dick Gordon (a Noblesville business owner) we've been able to accelerate this project.
Timing: The month-long closure was placed at the end of summer/beginning of fall to prevent disruption to summer events on the square.

New Downtown Business: Just Lagom!
This past week, downtown Noblesville gained a new small business! Just Lagom (pronounced "la-gum" and means "just right") has already proven to live up to its name and meaning.
Who's behind it? Lindsey McVey — She's a local Noblesville resident, part of the Peony Festival team, the woman behind the social media for Noblesville Main Street, and an all-around great person!
What do they sell? They are primarily designed as a women's clothing boutique
Where are they at? Right off the Square on 9th Street (159 North 9th Street)

Carrigan & Hague Road Roudabout Art
There's new art slated for the roundabout at Carrigan & Hague Road thanks to the local non-profit, Keep Noblesville Beautiful!
More from the Reporter:
Keep Noblesville Beautiful received $5,000 to fund a portion of a roundabout sculpture
The sculpture is the work of artist Kevin Huff, whose previous work includes the “Embrace the Trace” sculpture installed on Hazel Dell Road in 2021
The sculpture is scheduled for a late fall 2022 installation
